Value of Choice Privileges points
Most travel bloggers do not give Choice Privileges much attention. Every year I load up on Choice Privileges points during the U.S. Travel Association Daily Getaways sales. In July 2022 I had about 200,000 Choice Privileges points in my account when I purchased 220,000 more points for $1,140. The purchase rate through Daily Getaways was $5.19 per 1,000 points. That was a great deal, so I tried to maximize my purchases for the number of Choice points I thought I could use before the next 2023 Daily Getaways sale.Â
In 2022 I have redeemed about 300,000 Choice Privileges points for a redemption value far exceeding the $7.36 per 1,000 points purchase price with today’s Members Only Madness sale.
M Resort Las Vegas 66,000 Choice Privileges points bought $1,500 in room nights (May 24, 2022).
Hotel Aquarius Venice, Choice Hotels Ascend Collection (April 22, 2022). We paid 16,000 Choice Privileges points for our 495 EUR per night room at Hotel Aquarius Venice.Â
Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden offer significant rate discounts at Nordic Choice Hotels. Over the past 9 years I have booked great deals in Scandinavia using Choice Privileges points.
The Thief Oslo steals any negative connotation of Choice Privileges (4/11/2019) – The Thief, Ascend Collection is available for 20,000 points per room night. Entry level room rates for this hotel generally start around $350 per night.Â
Complimentary breakfast for two at The Thief is a $100 value alone given the price of food in Oslo, Norway.
San Francisco and Anaheim are two other locations where Choice Privileges points are useful for my travels.
While not luxurious by any means, Rodeway Inn Taylor Street in downtown San Francisco is currently available for 8,000 points per night. You would be hard-pressed to find a cheaper hotel in San Francisco.
Cheapest hotel in San Francisco under $62 per night this summer (May 13, 2022). The room price for Rodeway Inn San Francisco drops to $59 per night with a purchase using this current Choice Privileges 40% bonus points sale.Â
Australia is another location where are some great Choice Privileges reward night deals for stays in apartments with kitchens.
Check out Choice Privileges reward rates and you might find this opportunity to buy points for $7.36 per 1,000 a good deal. Or wait around to see if there is another opportunity to buy Choice Privileges points at an even lower price through Daily Getaways in 2023.
