Wyndham Rewards 16,000 points per stay Aug 6-Oct 6, 2012 (targeted promotion)

Wyndham Rewards has a lucrative promotion and confusing, supposedly targeted promotion offering 16,000 bonus points for one stay at any of 20 new Wyndham and Hawthorn Suites hotels in the USA from August 6 through October 6, 2012.

This bonus may be earned three times for a total 48,000 bonus points.

This offer is confusing in that the offer was mentioned by member samineni3 on FlyerTalk August 6 Celebrate with a Free Night on Us promotion 16,000 points per stay

A Wyndham Rewards representative stated August 10 on FlyerTalk that this bonus offer was only sent to Wyndham Rewards email subscribers.

The T&C of the offer state:

To qualify for the “16,000 bonus Points” promotion (the “Promotion”) and earn 16,000 Wyndham Rewards® points, the member must (i) be an active member (ii) click through the email and book a stay at any of the 20 participating properties at a qualifying rate between August 6, 2012 and October 6, 2012 and complete their hotel stays by October 9, 2012.(the “Promotion Period”). Members will receive 16,000 Wyndham Rewards points for up to 3 stays within the Promotion Period at any of the 20 properties regardless of the number of rooms booked.

I am a Wyndham Rewards email subscriber

As is often the case, I saw this email promotion mentioned on FlyerTalk and I did a thorough search of my emails looking for the Wyndham Rewards email for this offer. Most months I receive 5 to 12 emails from Wyndham Rewards. I have no emails at all from Wyndham Rewards in August.

There is uncertainty if this offer will apply without your own personal email from Wyndham Rewards. This promotion has high earning potential at 48,000 bonus points for three stays.  The offer is valuable enough to keep my eye on for new developments on the member inclusiveness of the promotion.

Let’s hope it does work out to be widely available to members.

Phantom Stays with Wyndham Rewards

I have only been actively using Wyndham Rewards for the past two years. The FlyerTalk thread revealed a fine point that I  did not know.

A term in the Wyndham Rewards program rules states a guest earns points for the stay when the guest is a no-show and the credit card is charged.

image

Part 2. Earning, Section B. Rule 8. Earning at Participating Hotels, Participating Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (WH&R) Properties and Participating Hawthorn® Suites by Wyndham Properties.

8. If the property requires a credit card for a reservation, the Member is a no-show, and the hotel charges his/her credit card for the first night of the no-show stay, the Member will receive points for such night as if he/she had stayed.

This seems like a good point to know for Wyndham Rewards members. Not sure though this will apply to bonus points from promotions, even if base points are earned on a no-show stay.

Let’s hope this clause doesn’t disappear in the near future.

Bottom Line on Wyndham Rewards offer

This appears to be a targeted offer that requires the Wyndham Rewards member to have been sent an email around August 6.

The offer has been posted on FlyerTalk and WebFlyer. I wonder if Wyndham Rewards will expand this offer to more members?

And why have I not received any Wyndham Rewards emails in August?

I would really like to earn 48,000 points staying at some of these Wyndham Hotels and Hawthorn Suites over the next two months given this opportunity to earn big with Wyndham Rewards.

Pingbacks

  1. […] What made this deal particularly attractive is the Wyndham Rewards promotion page made no mention of this offer being targeted to a subgroup of members. The same offer ran from August 6 through October 6 with the term that Wyndham Rewards members must click through their member email. I wrote about the earlier offer on August 14 and put “targeted” in my blog post title, Wyndham Rewards 16,000 points per stay Aug 6-Oct 6, 2012 (targeted promotion). […]

Comments

  1. I did not receive that email as well. The last email I received from WR was on Aug. 9th reminding of 4X promotion.

  2. I received the email a few minutes ago. It was titled Your point balance, member offers & Summer Rewards.

  3. Two of the three accounts received, including one does not subscribe the email offers.

The one that does not receive offer does subscribe the email offers

  4. I got the email as well. There are participating hotel in my area and the lowest price i could find is $72 per night. Now sure if it is a great deal though.

  5. I received the Celebrate With a Free Night on Us email on August 6th. I have not stayed at any of this group’s hotels and joined the program earlier this year in case I managed to pick up some points in that Travel America promotion, but I think I will now.

  6. I got it also, but no hotels in my area and I am not traveling anymore this year, so spending $$ might not be a good deal for me. Thoughts?

  7. @Joel – I have redeemed most of my Wyndham Rewards points for Ramada Inn stays at 14,000 or 16,000 points per night. Every stay saved at least $125 and that was in places where the Ramada on points was about the best deal I could find.

17,500 points can be exchanged to 7,000 airline miles with Wyndham partners.

  8. “click through the email and BOOK A STAY” are the wording for the requirements it doesnt say that you must stay there.
can people post the cheapest hotel rates they find and for the dates

  9. Looks like the best deal may be found where one can find “flesh stripping cockroaches” in the future…

  10. Thanks for sharing! This sounds like a pretty good deal. Wyndham points can also be useful other than only transfer to miles under some circumstances, such as hotels at certain national parks, and the US Grand Slam hit. But I think I won’t be able to get to any of these 20 locations during the promotion period, so my question is, is there any report that no-show stay actually works? Thanks again!

  11. Sounds like we might need to wait to see about the no show from others , since this has a window into October

I`d need more information before jumping in, but thsnks for the blog….something to watch

  12. I just received a targeted offer for Wyndham Credit Card holders. 12000 pts if I charge $750 per month for the next 3 months.
