Park Inn by Radisson Danube Bratislava Hotel in Slovakia is nearing the end of a years long complete remodel and currently accepting reservations for October 1, 2017 with reward rates at Club Carlson category 1 level for 9000 points per night.

This is a gem of a location beside the Danube River in Bratislava adjacent to Old Town and about 200 meters from Radisson Blu Carlton Bratislava.

A few days ago I stayed at Radisson Blu Carlton Bratislava. Radisson Blu is located on Haviezdoslavovo namestie, a primarily pedestrian square and tree lined street, one block from the Danube River.

Park Inn Danube Bratilava has 239 guest rooms, a swimming pool and an ideal tourist location for Bratislava tourism.

Bratislava is a quick one hour train ride from Vienna, Austria and on frequent and direct bus routes between Prague, Czech Republic and Budapest, Hungary.

During our stay last week when the temperature was in the low 30s Celsius and topped 90F, drinking and dining along Haviezdoslavovo namestie was one of the coolest venues to be, for both temperature and entertainment in the city. This restaurant lined street is a location for live music, chess in the park, ice skating in winter and Christmas Market and family strolls.

Park Inn room rates look to be around $80 to $100 for dates I searched in October and November. This hotel looks like a great deal to me as someone who has stayed in Bratislava three times in the past year.

Numerous pubs with $2 pints of beers and other cheap drinks and restaurants all around for $5 to $12 meals make Bratislava a cheap destination with plenty of beautiful sights to occupy your time for a couple of days. Tourism is huge in this part of the city around the Club Carlson hotels. English is widely spoken and the currency is the Euro.

This hotel is a real deal at 9,000 points per night.

    I’ve stayed at both of these properties there as they are like a proverbial stone’s throw from the US Embassy.

    The Park Inn, pre-renovation, had some decent rooms for me as Club Carlson Gold member and gave me nearly junior suite type rooms always with a view of the river.

    With the Carlson credit card benefit (since terminated), that gave the second/last night of a multiple award night for free, Bratislava had been a great place for hotel hopping to maximize that benefit. 4500 points/night was the de facto cost for the Park Inn then, and it was a decent property if not having to deal with the front desk (where tour group lines really clogged things up).

    Rick, are there any other good category one hotels elsewhere? I looked at the reviews for the one in Budapest, but they were awful.

    Perhaps some category two or even category three in the region? Especially one that might give me some additional something as a gold member.

    I would like to burn whatever points that I have, because i don’t trust the program.
    In fact, at this point I don’t trust any of the programs, and prefer a 1.5 percent no fee credit card.

    @Andrew – Park Inn Kaunas, Lithuania is a good location category 1 hotel.

    I redeemed 13,500 points for a Business Class upgrade and had a large junior suite size room with buffet breakfast. Kaunas is a decent enough city if you want to in pubs, dine and shop a couple of days.

    Kaunas is between the capital city Vilnius and the Baltic seaport Klaipeda, where there is a category 2 Radisson Blu, also in a good location for exploring Old Town. I stayed at both these hotels in April 2017.

    Vilnius also has category 3 Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva, Vilniushttps://www.clubcarlson.com/hotels/redemption/rates/VNOZL/new. The other Radisson Blu hotel in Vilnius is a far better location in Old Town, but Lietuva has great views and about 15-20 minute walk to Old Town.

    If you find your way to Baltic countries, then central Riga, Latvia is a gorgeous city architecturally with a happening Old Town. Park Inn Radisson Riga Valdemara is a new build residential type hotel with kitchen cooking facilities.

    Tallinn, Estonia also has cat 3 Park Inn Central Tallinn. I have not been to Tallinn, however, I have heard several travelers say that Tallinn is their favorite Baltic city.

    Radisson Blu Bratislava, Slovakia is an excellent location for the city and category 3. I love this hotel and I have stayed there twice in the past year.

    Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Ljubljana, Slovenia is another category 3 hotel in a city I have not yet been, but I read several trip reports praising Ljubljana as a destination.

    There are probably several other good hotel stay opportunities with Club Carlson. I have my eye on visiting more places in Poland and there are several category 3 hotels. Radisson Blu Gdansk is category 4 and an excellent Old Town location. I was upgraded to a suite there in June.

    Central Europe is a place I enjoy visiting. Nice $5-$10 restaurant dining and $2 pub pints and pretty Old Town architecture in central cities is a key attraction for me.
