British Airways Business Class $1,565 Atlanta to London/Jersey open-jaw and more UK deals from DTW/MSP/SLC

After playing around some more with the low Oneworld Business Class fares with British Airways from Delta hubs introduced yesterday, I have found some ways to lower the price of a ticket to $1,600 and less. The deal is American is attacking Delta hubs with low business class fares to the UK. There are discount fares to several airports around the UK, in addition to London. Atlanta to London is around $1,670 round trip. There are also discount business class fares to Belfast, Northern Ireland, Edinburgh, Scotland and even to the Island of Jersey, off the coast of France or the Shetlands in the North Sea. Perhaps surprisingly, the lowest fares I found are to Inverness, Scotland – gateway to the Highlands and Jersey, a Crown Dependency of the UK off the coast of Normandy, France.

Business Class fares are around $1,950 to $2,250 round trip to many UK airports. Even remote island airports off northwest Scotland and Isle of Man are in the $2,500 to $2,600 range before the $400 AARP discount. AARP members ($16 to join) can access a special booking link for British Airways flights to reduce the fare by $400 USD. This reduces the Business class round trip fare to around $1,600 from Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City on some routes.

Departure dates are wide open from September through April 2017. There is no minimum stay requirement.

The return flight from London to the USA is priced higher than the outbound flight by as much as $400. One way around this is to book an open jaw with a flight into London and depart from Jersey JER.

This assumes you have any desire to visit Jersey, UK. This is one of the places I have a desire to visit.

Of course, there is a hitch in this wonderful low fare deal. Airfare from London to Jersey is $440 one-way and British Airways seems to be the exclusive carrier, so you better have some Avios points in your account.
