American Airlines has a low $423 round trip New York JFK to Stockholm fare today for travel primarily in September and October. This is FinnAir service via Helsinki. You can also fly all British Airways-operated flights via London LHR for $487 round trip. All these tickets are American Airlines codeshare flights. FinnAir and British Airways have much higher ticket prices for these same itineraries, so no AARP $65 discount is available on these low economy fares.

There are also tickets in the mid-$500s for New York to Oslo or Washington IAD to Copenhagen.

This looks like an attack on SAS territory in a fare war battle today over the past two days that includes low American Airlines fares from UA hubs to Star Alliance member airline hubs in Europe. Today there are low fares in the $400s with American Airlines from SFO/DEN/IAH/CLE/IAD/EWR to Lisbon (TAP Portugal territory), Zurich (Swiss Airlines territory), Vienna (Austrian Airlines) and Munich, Frankfurt and Berlin, Germany (Lufthansa). There are United low fares from $388 to $413 to Madrid and Barcelona from American Airlines hubs in Dallas DFW, Phoenix PHX, Charlotte CLT and Philadelphia PHL.

I did not find any AA ticket prices in the $400s for any other USA-Scandinavia routes, but there are some low fares in the $500s from Boston and Washington D.C. In fact, American Airlines’ fare to Copenhagen from Washington Dulles IAD is lower priced than from JFK. There are low Icelandair and Norwegian fares in the low $400s from New York JFK. Norwegian is nonstop, but Icelandair has the advantage of free bag and free stopover in Iceland if you want to add that to your ticket.
