The guest reviews are not too favorable for Wildwood Snowmass at 2.2 out of 5.0 favorable rating with 31% recommendation. That is surprisingly low for a Starwood Hotel.

Where oh where were the ice makers and fan for the room so you didn’t overheat? Why was the bed a mush pit? Were the bathroom vanities only for little people?
This property needs to be torn down or upgraded.

No air conditioner is a big concern for me in Colorado during peak summer. I recall being in nearby Glenwood Springs in 2011 at a hotel with only room fans when the temperature outside was over 100F. Sure the elevation is higher in Snowmass and Aspen, but those places were hot too.
Westin Snowmass Resort drops to $106 for dates in the last two weeks of August. The Westin Snowmass gets 3.7 out of 5 stars with a 68% recommendation. The nightly rate is $144 per night after $25 resort fee.
Westin Snowmass rooms have air conditioners.
Aspen is a cool place to hang out in hot summer with outdoor concerts, world-class seminars and great mountain trails to hike and bike. Independence Pass is one of the great road drives of Colorado.

Snowmass is about 15 minutes and $400 per night cheaper for a Starwood hotel room from Aspen.
St. Regis Aspen rate is $508.64 per night after tax on August weekdays when Wildwood Snowmass is $100 per night or Westin Snowmass is $144 per night. And you can hang out at St. Regis Aspen during the day if that is your interest. That is what I did a few years back when staying in Glenwood Springs. I have also stayed at St. Regis Aspen. For the prevailing rates, I think there are better hotels in Aspen. Snowmass is a good alternative for Aspen proximity without Aspen hotel prices.
SPG Hot Escapes are prepaid, nonrefundable rates that must be booked by Saturday, July 19.
