Moved all my Radisson Rewards points to Americas program

Today I moved 50,000 points out of Radisson Rewards International program back to Radisson Rewards Americas due to the recent devaluation of points for hotel stays I had planned in Europe. I now have 95,000 points in the Americas program that I think I can redeem for about $750 in hotel stays. The low value of points in the international program at $2 to $3 per 1,000 points would have meant settling for about $250 redemption value spending 95,000 Radisson Rewards points for hotel stays in Europe.

25 Radisson Rewards hotels in Europe for 15,000 points – May 5, 2022. Last month’s change to the Radisson Rewards international program removes standard points rewards to offer a discount on the room rate using points. For dozens of hotels I checked the cash value of Radisson Rewards points is always less than $3 per 1,000 points.

    @ Ric — I moved all mine to United at some horrifically poor rate. I have zero desire to stay in their horrorible hotels.

    Thanks for the info. I just transferred my 105k to the Americas program. I didn’t even realize there was an overseas deval.

    If you end up with $750 in value out of 95k in Radisson points I’ll be surprised. I have just shy of 300k and expect 4 hotel nights at mid-range properties out of this, if I’m lucky.

    I built up around half a million points through the business and personal credit cards but couldn’t see any values worth booking. I’m hoping that things will work out better with Choice.

    I was lucky enough to use the transfer the other way to get a family room at a Radisson in Europe for 93k for 3 adults for a week – twice over the summer. Cleared out the 1M+ points in no time

    @DaninMCI – I had looked at redemption value for Radisson Rewards Americas and found several hotels in the 10,000 to 20,000 points range where I can get over $8 per 1,000 points redeemed. Costa Rica, Panama, some hotels around Brazil and Chile. There are new hotels in Peru that will soon become part of Radisson Rewards Americas. I have been thinking about heading south again after 15 years since a trip to Argentina, Uruguay and Chile.

    See several airport hotels in USA this winter with discount rates at 10,000 points for places like Providence PVD, Manchester, NH, Atlanta ATL.

    Remains to be seen if I can spend 95,000 points before whatever change Choice Privileges will bring to Radisson Rewards points.
