Choice Hotels partnered with Sercotel Hotels in Spain to add 23 Ascend Collection properties to the brand in 2018. Sercotel manages 150 hotels in Spain and nearly 30 hotels in Latin America. It is unclear at this time if more Sercotel properties will partner with Choice Hotels and Choice Privileges.

Tip: Most of these hotels are priced at 20,000 points for the current season through April 15, 2019. All these Ascend Collection hotels in Spain I checked drop to 8,000 points seasonally for April 16-June 30, 2018.
Since hotels can be booked 100 days in advance, this means hotels can be booked currently for dates into mid-May 2019.

Since you only need 6,000 points to book a Points Plus Cash reward night, you can buy 6,000 points for $46.20 and the other 2,000 points per reward night for $15.
Total price for 8,000 points = $61.20 per reward night.
Buying points makes its possible to book three nights in Barcelona for $193.60, which is basically the same as the room rate for one night at this hotel on Friday April 26.
