Denver Deals $330 Paris, $352 Amsterdam Jan-May 2018

Winter travel deals to Europe are in full swing this week from cities across the USA. Denver has Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris deals around from $330 to $400 round trip with American/Oneworld, Delta/Skyteam, United/Star Alliance and Icelandair for travel January to May 2018. Other cities in France and Italy are in the $400s.

United Airlines $352 Denver – Amsterdam

Denver DEN – Toronto YYZ (22h layover) – Amsterdam AMS – Toronto YYZ – Denver

$351.66  Thu April 12 – Sat April 21

DEN-AMS $352 UA Apr12-21

Icelandair $330 Denver – Paris

Denver – Keflavik KEF – Paris Orly ORY – KEF – DEN

$329.92 round trip  Fri April 13 – Fri April 20

DEN-ORY $330 FI Apr13-20

While this Icelandair ticket price is quite low, this provides a good case study for how Icelandair conceded its competitive edge for USA-Europe flights to the major alliance airlines.

Icelandair Economy Light for Carry-On only flyers

DEN-ORY FI economy fare types

The $330 ticket price is the newly introduced Icelandair Economy Light fare, which limits the passenger to a 10kg carry-on bag and does not allow a free checked bag. To get a checked bag requires purchase of Economy Standard fare for $57 more each way. Seat assignment still free and Iceland stopover still a possibility.

At $443.92 for Icelandair Economy Standard with checked bag included, the price difference becomes negligible and may make flying a major alliance airline a better deal.

DEN-CDG $400s Apr13-20

To put these fares into perspective. The taxes and fee’s are almost as much as these fares. For example the Icelandair award trips TATL run $140 to $150 each way much of the time due to surcharges and taxes.
Departure from Paris is an extra $75 to $100 at times.
    Good deals I’d say.

I’m in Phoenix, haven’t seen any good April deals. Tempted to book this one and find coonecting flight to Denver. Not sure if I should wait for Phoenix deals. Any thoughts?

There will be Phoenix deals before April, but you might find it easier to simply book Denver and a connecting flight so you don’t spend hours and hours looking for another fare deal.

Set up Google Flights alerts for your desired city pair and you will get a daily email alert.
