Hilton DoubleTree Varna Black Sea Resort 33 EUR rates

DoubleTree by Hilton Varna Golden Sands, Bulgaria is a hotel that has made my ‘remember’ list of hotels. I made my first trip to Bulgaria in late February, where I stayed three nights in Sofia in the western part of the country. Varna is a Black Sea resort city in the eastern part of Bulgaria, about 500 km from Sofia. Varna is a 5-hour drive from Sofia or a $32 one hour flight.

DoubleTree Varna is open until October 15.

If we see a Hilton Honors nights promotion for September-October, I’ll have DoubleTree Varna, Bulgaria in mind.

Have you been to Varna? I’d appreciate reader tips. I am thinking about Plovdiv and Varna, Bulgaria as a possible destination trip in October when the weather looks like it tends to be in the 60s and 70s.

Was in Plovdiv in April. A charming city, really liked it! Interesting architecture, Roman ruins and very easy to walk to all the major sites. Fabulous monastery about 40 minutes outside of town. Very different feel from Sofia. Stayed at the Ramada just on the edge of old town and it was a very convenient location for walking. Ramada nothing great, a bit faded glory, but worked well for my family of three. I think you will like Plovdiv…a little gem of a city.

I went to Varna June 21. It’s a nice town, beautiful park by the sea, nice beach, lots of bars & restaurants. The DoubleTree is not in Varna town, but Golden Sands, about 45min North. It’s mass tourism hell and I would not recommend to stay there! The beach was packed even in shoulder season and I’d not want to be there in August.
I’d stay in Varna proper, nice pedestrian area, beach clubs & restaurants, more.manageable beach in walking distance, could bus access.
There are a number of good, inexpensive independent hotels. I haven’t written about it on my blog, but it’s worth the trip!

Good to know about DoubleTree location and Varna. There are two Best Western hotels in Varna with low rates. Those could be useful if a good promotion comes up with BW Rewards.

I noticed several nice looking independent hotels in Varna.

Ramada Plovdiv looks like a good deal on GoFast rates for 3,000 points + 24 EUR.
