Los Angeles to Europe for under $400 round trip in summer is a great deal. Copenhagen is one of the most happening party cities I have visited in summer with thousands of people packing picnic lunches and wine or beer, lining the city canals on clear warm days in a generally spontaneous city residents hanging out by the water vibe.
Norwegian Airlines is a service I really enjoy for flights from California to the USA and vise versa. I have flown the airline twice in 2017 and found it to be a comfortable flight in economy class with good inflight entertainment.
Copenhagen CPH is an airport I like for cheap flights to places across Europe with low cost carrier airlines. Copenhagen has an airport convenience advantage over Stockholm (ARN, NYO, BMA) and Oslo (OSL, TRF), cities with more than one airport.
Most low cost flights with Ryanair and Wizz in Oslo and Stockholm leave from secondary airports Oslo TRF and Stockholm NYO, an hour or more away by bus or train from the main international airports Stockholm Arlanda ARN and Oslo Gardermoen OSL, where Norwegian flights from the USA land.
Transportation between airports in Oslo and Stockholm will likely cost $25 or more. Copenhagen is a $6 train ticket and 20 minutes between city and airport. All carriers leave from CPH. Another alternative for some low cost flight deals is Malmo, Sweden MMX, a 30-minute train ride from CPH.

Norwegian is really the deal if you are willing to travel without a self-selected seat assignment or checked bag. Either of these conveniences will set you back $45 one way.
In my experience, Norwegian is generous in carry-on bags. On my trip last week I had a standard 22-inch carry on, a stuffed small backpack, a winter coat in my arm and a bag of food for the flight. No problems.
Carry-on Tip: In winter I can stuff a small bag in the sleeve of my winter coat I carry on my arm for more carry-on stuff without scrutiny. That strategy won’t help much in August.
On all my flights in the past year on Norwegian, I either had no seat mate or found a different seat on the plane with no seat mate. Again, probably harder to achieve in August.
Norwegian is not as competitively priced if you need the flex package of pre-assigned seat selection, checked bag and food. Those services can be bundled in a ticket price of around $90 one way to Europe and $65 one way to USA. You can book legacy airlines for that round trip ticket price in mid $500s
SAS has a sale currently for tickets around $550 round trip.

Of note regarding my first post about Copenhagen in July 2015. I was paying 8 to 12 DKK per beer in a market that first trip. I now know where to find beer in Copenhagen markets priced at 3 to 4 DKK per bottle. Markets downtown around the train station and Tivoli Gardens are higher priced than other parts of the city.
