2,500 Aeroplan miles per IHG stay and 5,000 miles after 5 Starwood nights

The next few months offer opportunities to earn large numbers of Aeroplan miles through hotel stays with IHG and Starwood. The Starwood Hotels offer is a no brainer. Everyone should register for this promotion right now, well, wait until after reading the rest of this post.

Earn 5,000 miles after 5 nights at Starwood Hotels September 1 – December 15, 2013. Another 2,000 miles after 7 nights and another 2,000 miles after 9 nights for a potential 9,000 bonus miles.

Starwood Hotels brands are Westin, Sheraton, Four Points, St. Regis, W Hotels, Aloft, Element, Le Meridien and Luxury Collection.

You should sign up for Starwood 9,000 Aeroplan miles today.

Starwood Hotels SPG promotion is additive. Signing up for this Aeroplan bonus miles offer in no way impacts your regular earning of Starpoints for Starwood Hotel stays. You will still earn the SPG Take Two bonus points. This is strictly bonus miles in addition to your regular earning for Starwood stays.

SPG periodically runs these frequent flyer bonus miles promotions along with the occasional special offer for other items. They are additive offers and you only get it by signing up for the promotion. In past promotions I have earned $200 in Tumi gift certificates and bonus miles in Aeroplan and other frequent flyer programs while earning Starpoints and regular promotion bonuses normally.

IHG Rewards Club 2,500 total Aeroplan miles per stay (5x normal earning) for stays September 1 to November 30, 2013.

IHG Rewards Club takes more consideration than registering for the SPG offer. You have to change your IHG earning to Aeroplan miles instead of points meaning The Big Win promotion for bonus points will not apply when you are earning miles for your stay.

I have not checked details of The Big Win miles offer yet. The press release stated the Big Win base offer for miles earns at least 10,000 miles. You can check that out and register for IHG Big Win as a separate Aeroplan bonus miles offer in addition to the 2,500 miles per stay with this Aeroplan offer.

Terms indicate this is available for stays in any IHG brand worldwide. Brands are Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Candlewood Suites, InterContinental Hotels, Staybridge Suites and Hotel Indigo.

Still, the Big Win bonus point offers may not be met by some IHG stays and for that stay there may be better value in earning 2,500 Aeroplan miles. This 2,500 miles per stay can be earned unlimited times during promotion.

IHG 2,500 miles per stay registration.

Thanks, Ric, for the advice. as a frequent business traveler and a frequent hotel-stayer, i was wondering: What good are Aeroplan miles if I don’t already have them? Assume I get the 9,000 miles, than what?

  • Al September 4, 2013

For 7500 miles, you can get a one-way ticket for a short haul flight between US and Canada. For example, Montreal/Toronto/Ottawa to NYC/DC/Boston.

    as per the t&c’s:

“A stay is qualified when paying qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates.”

ok, is the ‘qualifying rate’ higher than the lowest published rate? Might not be a good deal if it is a lot higher. besides, does anyone collect aeropesos anymore?

  • Ric Garrido September 5, 2013

I have always received promotion credit for the lowest rate I booked through a hotel chain’s website.

Aeroplan miles are an option for hotel stays. You don’t need to earn them if you do not want them.

Is the SPG stackable as in get Starpoints, Aeroplan, and miles through Pointshound?

  • Ric Garrido September 8, 2013

@MaryE – I can’t speak for Pointshound bookings. That is not a program I follow.
