Hilton Honors loyalty program Hilton Hotels Worldwide Hotel Loyalty 2012-Q4 promotions

Hilton HHonors 2012 Q4 promotion is earn 1,000 points per night on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights for hotel stays worldwide from Nov 1 through December 31, 2012. This means every night except Tuesdays and Wednesdays earn 1,000 bonus points. There is no earning limit during the promotion.

Nonparticipating hotels number about 200 hotels, as usual with Hilton HHonors promotions these days, and the list is too long to post here.

Promotion registration required at www.hhonors.com/1000reasons prior to checkout of first stay to be eligible for bonus points.

  • Reservations booked before the promotion are eligible as long as member is registered for promotion.
  • Award stays will earn 1,000 bonus points if incidental charges are made. This does not apply to stays at Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites or Home2Suites. At least that is my interpretation of the Hilton 1000Reasons FAQ where I bolded these words.

Do Reward Stays count towards this promotion?
Members may earn Bonus Points for incidental charges at participating hotels within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio during a Reward Stay, provided such charges are deemed eligible folio charges. This does not apply to incidental charges for stays at Hampton, Home2 Suites or Homewood Suites. For a complete explanation see number 14 under Accrual of Points under the HHonors Terms and Conditions
or by clicking here.

Loyalty Traveler Analysis

There are loads of complaints on FlyerTalk about this being a weak promotion.

I disagree based on Hilton HHonors Double Dip policy.

Combine this offer with Hilton HHonors Virgin Atlantic 15,000 miles after 5 stays and you have the potential for 50,000 with as few as 5 paid nights.

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club earns 15,000 bonus miles after 5 stays Sep 26-Dec 31, 2012. Stays at full service Hilton brands earn 1,000 fixed miles per stay. HHonors Points & Miles earner can receive 20,000 miles after 5 stays and convert miles back to 40,000 HHonors points through HHonors miles-to-points exchange. Loyalty traveler post Sep 30, 2012: Hilton HHonors Virgin Atlantic 15,000 bonus miles Sep 26-Dec 31, 2012.

A person can stay 5 times with one night stays on $80 to $100 rates at DoubleTree or Hilton or Hilton Garden Inn. Assume $400 to $500 in hotel spend.

$500 Hotel Spend for 5 one-night stays earns as Points & Fixed Miles earner:

  • 5,000 HHonors base points (10 points per $1).
  • 5,000 Virgin Atlantic base miles  (1,000 miles per stay).
  • 15,000 Virgin Atlantic bonus miles (15,000 bonus miles after 5 stays).
  • 5,000 HHonors bonus points (1,000 Reasons promotion for Thursday to Monday nights).
  • Plus Elite bonuses, if applicable

$500 earns 10,000 HHonors points and 20,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles.

Convert the 20,000 VS Flying Club miles to 40,000 HHonors points with a Hilton HHonors miles-to-points exchange.

Potential for $500 or less in hotel spend to earn 50,000 HHonors points.

50,000 points is one free night at a Category 7 HHonors hotel or Waldorf Astoria Collection (non-peak season). 50,000 points can easily be redeemed for $200 to $400 in value for a top tier HHonors hotel night or more using Points & Money Rewards.

1,000 bonus points per night may not be as good a deal as earning three free nights with Marriott on 6 one-night stays, but there is value in Hilton HHonors 1,000 Reasons promotion in combination with the Virgin Atlantic promotion.

Otherwise consider:

Marriott RewardsFall MegaBonus 2012: Sep 15 – Jan 15, 2013. Earn one free night certificate at a category 1-4 hotel every two stays; maximum 3 free nights. Free night certificate is valid for 12 months from issuance. Some members may have been targeted with a different bonus points offer. Loyalty Traveler post August 3, 2012.

And check out my October 2012 Hotel Loyalty Promotions Guide for many more bonus opportunities for the remainder of 2012. Club Carlson is giving away free nights and that is my first promotion choice for someone who might just need one or two stays over the next two months.
