Hilton Honors loyalty program Hilton Hotels Worldwide hotel reward category

Hilton HHonors Category 5 Hotel Changes by Location

Hilton HHonors released a list of hotels increasing reward category on April 30, 2012. The HHonors list only lists hotel name ordered by hotel brand, and some hotels have only a partial name and some an incorrect name on the list.

Hilton HHonors members will likely find a list of hotels ordered by geographical location more useful.

There are 330 hotels rising in category and 117 hotels dropping in category.

Most of the rises are in category 5, 6 and 7. All but three hotels dropping in reward category are currently in categories 1-5. Two hotels dropping from category 6 to category 5 are not in the table below. They are located in Branson, Missouri and Mumbai, India.

92 Hilton brand hotels are rising to category 5 at 35,000 points per night on April 30.

88 of the 92 hotels are located in the USA.

The thought of the Hampton Inn Arcata being a Category 5 hotel makes me chuckle. This hotel in the northcoast area of Humboldt State University is where I lived when I got into this whole hotel points game. I spent over one million HHonors points between 2000 and 2004 living at the Amsterdam Hilton one 6-night stay at a time for 100,000 points per reward stay.

Now the Hampton Inn Arcata will be 105,000 points for 3 nights. That is some devaluation of Hilton HHonors points over the past decade.
