Discount stays with Radisson Rewards Buy Points 100% bonus, ends Dec 1

Radisson Rewards has a CyberMonday special for 100% bonus points on purchased points through Wednesday December 1. This deal brings the cost of points down to $3.50 per 1,000 points. You can purchase a minimum 6,000 points for $21 or a maximum 160,000 points for $560. There is an annual limit of 80,000 purchased points in a calendar year. The primary value I find that makes this a good deal is for points reward nights at low end properties priced at the 15,000 points ($52.50 per night) and 30,000 points ($105 per night) levels. At these price points there are dozens of hotels where nights paid with points will save $20 to $60 per night. While there may not be a large number of hotels where points rates will save on room rates, my strategy is always to pinpoint a few hotels where I can get a great deal using Radisson Rewards compared to other loyalty program rates for cities I want to visit.

Last month I studied the new Radisson Rewards program since the split between Radisson Rewards Americas (North America, South America and Central America/Caribbean hotels) and Radisson Rewards (Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia). My interest was determining if there was value to be found in the new program when buying points at $3.50 per 1,000 points. This rate was offered during Daily Getaways and I was interested in buying points. After spending $2,500 for Choice Privileges and Best Western points I decided to hold off on Radisson Rewards points in the expectation there would be a similar CyberMonday sale. I recall buying Radisson Rewards points in 2014 during a CyberMonday sale. Admittedly, Radisson Rewards points were far more valuable at that time when the credit card offered a free reward night on all points stays of 2 nights of more and Gold elite members could book 2-for-1 weekend nights. That 2-for-1 Gold elite member deal ended in February 2017 as I was hanging out at the Radisson Blu Wroclaw, Poland on a 2-night weekend reward stay for 28,000 points.

This hotel in Marina is a Covid-era rebrand near the beach and the first Radisson property to come to my home area of Monterey Bay. While this would not be my preference when visiting the area, this might very well be the most affordable hotel for a points stay on a busy summer weekend trip.

This hotel in Estonia and some deals I found for Radisson brand hotels in Poland are the places that really got me thinking about investing some money in points purchases. While RadissonRewards.com and Radisson Rewards Americas operate as two different programs, members can instantly transfer points between these programs. I transferred half my points from Radisson Rewards Americas to the other program for using on hotel stays in Europe.

I feel confident that I will find hotel rate discounts sufficiently easy in some of the places I will travel to make my Radisson Rewards points investment money well spent.

Park Inn Prague was my last Radisson Hotels stay. Unfortunately my go to hotel in Prague from 2017-2019, when reward nights were 15,000 points, has gone independent as the Hermitage Hotel. No more complimentary upgrades to the large outdoor deck rooms on Radisson Rewards point redemption nights.
