This promotion is different in two ways from most promotions offered by Radisson Rewards and Club Carlson over the past few years.

  1. Reward nights and Points + Cash nights count.
  2. Reservations made prior to promotion registration count.

I don’t recall a Radisson Rewards promotion allowing reward nights to count as nights stayed.

When I attended Club Carlson annual meetings between 2010 and 2014, one of the loyalty program arguments frequently made was in support of promotions not allowing existing reservations to count for new offers since their stated purpose of loyalty promotions was to incentivize new bookings. Looks like the managers of Radisson Rewards have a new strategy.

Promotion Value

I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out if there was any way to make this offer work for my self-funded travel. I only see this offer being worthwhile to me with a minimum of 10 hotel nights.

Park Inn Katowice, Poland $43/night Feb 3-13

Park Inn Katowice at $43 per night from Feb 3-13 would be $430 to earn 50,000 bonus points. Assume about $400 earns base points = 8,000 base points + 2,000 Gold elite points (25% base points) for a total haul of 60,000 points on $430 in spend.

There a few hotels around Europe where 15,000 points can be a good value redemption.

Katowice is a city I have not visited, but passed near on the freeway back in January 2017 during a day of horrendous air pollution. Katowice is in the heart of Poland’s Silesian coal mining district. Last month’s U.N. Climate Change Conference took place in Katowice. The convention center has the appearance of being in a coal mine cavern.

So why would I want to go to Katowice in winter?

I am not a paradise person.

60,000 points for $430 in spend on 10 hotel nights could be an interesting adventure. I love hanging out in Poland. I know I could find $400 in redemption value with 60,000 Radisson Rewards points.

Alas, this was only an exercise in redemption value calculations for me. Katowice is not in my travel plans and currently my only hotel reservations during this promotion period are for a good value Choice Hotels reward stay in Paris.

While there is value to be found in this Radisson Rewards offer, I don’t see it fitting in my travel plans over the next three months.

Thank you! I got the Radisson email today and had not noticed it before reading your post and searching my email. I have three booked nights during that time period and now have an incentive to book more.

Even as a Radisson gold member, I don’t think this is worth it. 20 nights before the end of March? With Radisson’s footprint? No way. Come on guys, you should’ve given us until summer.

I signed up for their last promotion, stayed the nights and then afterwards they told me I was not eligible for their targeted offer… even though I had kept the confirmation e’mail they had sent me.

Radisson is now nothing more than a if-there-are-not-any-other-choices brand.
