Best Western hotels Best Western Rewards Disneyland Hotel Reviews Hotel Reward Night Value

Fantastic Disneyland location at Best Western Plus Park Place Inn Anaheim

A $250 per night Best Western hotel in Anaheim would not have been my first choice for a hotel stay when visiting Disneyland, but 10,000 points for a reward night at a hotel across the street from the Disneyland park entrance provided a persuasive change of attitude toward a motel style hotel.

We stayed three nights at Best Western Plus Park Place Inn Anaheim for a 3-day visit to Disneyland last week. The hotel currently ranks #22 of 118 Anaheim hotels on TripAdvisor.

Best Western Park Place Inn Anaheim advertises itself as the ‘closest hotel to Disneyland’.

That is an accurate statement, although there are several other hotels around Best Western Park Place Inn that are also across South Harbor Blvd from the park entrance to Disneyland, including Best Western Anaheim Inn located about 200 meters south of BW Park Place. It just happens that Best Western Park Place Inn is at the crosswalk for walking into East Shuttle Way, the shuttle bus drop-off point for visitors to the park.

Best Western Anaheim Park Place Inn King Room #106

My primary complaint about our room was its location on the ground floor of the 3-floor hotel. The cars park directly outside the hotel and every morning we heard people wheeling luggage and loading their cars outside the room. The morning garbage service with truck backup beeping was another disturbance. These annoyances would be minimized with a room on Floor 2 or 3.

Pros:

  • Comfortable bed
  • Spacious room.
  • Plenty of TV stations,
  • microwave,
  • empty refrigerator
  • desk and wifi worked fine
  • sofa bed
  • iron with very long cord and plenty of space for ironing board.

Cons:

  • Noisy wall air conditioner. Worked great though.
  • Small bathroom space.
  • Window shutters mean people can look into room when open and ground floor location meant lots of people walking by room.

The photo of the parking area is actually Best Western Anaheim Inn, about 200 meters south of Best Western Park Place Inn. Both hotel buildings look identical and both are Stovall’s Hotels, which operates four Best Western hotels in Anaheim around Disneyland.

The main difference between the two hotels is BW Park Place Inn has a gated parking lot and the hotel charges $10 per day for parking with in and out privileges. Your car can remain in the parking lot until 3pm of the day you check-out.

BW Anaheim Inn has free parking, but charges a $5 per day resort fee. You can leave your car in the BW Anaheim Inn parking lot until 6pm of the day you check-out.

Both hotels require you to keep a parking pass on your dashboard during your stay.

Swimming pool

Apparently I did not snap a photo of the pool at Best Western Park Place Inn, but it looked similar to pool at Best Western Anaheim Inn. Both hotel pools with a hot tub are in gated enclosed areas next to parking lot.

Breakfast at Captain Kidd’s buffet restaurant (bring earplugs)

The noise factor of loud infants and toddlers made breakfast an endurance event. Standard fare of scrambled eggs, egg patties, sausage patties, pastries, breads, fruit, yogurt and juices. Nothing to get excited about, especially after repeat visits.

Making an English Muffin egg sandwich was a good meal starter with yogurt and fruit.

After seeing a slice of cheese pizza in Tomorrowland for $8.00 and pepperoni slices for $9.00, Captain Kidd’s buffet dinner for $12.89 seemed like the best value meal around the park. We ate dinner there one night and it was tolerable with a weak selection of salad foods, loads of meat dishes, pizza, a few Asian food dishes, fish, noodles, desserts and soft-serve ice cream. All beverages except water are extra.

Far better dining was the evening we took 4 hours out of our day to visit Anaheim GardenWalk for 3-6pm Happy Hour at McCormick & Schmick’s and House of Blues. These places are about 15 minutes walk from Best Western Park Place Inn with great food and beer in a more adult environment for a break from all the children.

One additional note to make about Best Western Plus Anaheim Park Place Inn is the lobby had an electric scooter rental counter. This turned out to be extremely useful for my 86-year old dad who rented a scooter for two days at $40 per day. The scooter enabled him to travel between the other Best Western Anaheim Inn to Disneyland and zip around the parks comfortably. Disneyland would not have been a viable experience for my Dad without the scooter to travel from the hotel to the park. The price was cheaper than renting a scooter at the park.

Best Western Plus Park Place Inn is a convenient hotel with a fantastic location for easy access to the park if visiting Disneyland is your primary objective and the hotel is primarily a place to sleep. We loved the option to go back to our room at anytime during the day without it eating up a whole lot of time to take shuttle buses back and forth between the hotel and park.

Best Western Plus Park Place Inn Anaheim cost 10,000 points per reward night during November 15, 2018-January 15, 2019 when all hotels in USA and Canada are available for 10,000 points per night. This hotel was 28,000 points per night prior to the promotion.

Best Western Park Place Inn Anaheim $755 for 3 nights

Our stay for 30,000 points provided a redemption value of $25.16 per 1,000 points. That was a fantastic redemption value for my Best Western Rewards points and a reason why I say each year that buying Best Western Rewards points during U.S. Travel Association’s Daily Getaways at the price of 10,000 points for $55 is a great deal for some hotels. Best Western Rewards points can be purchased for $10 per 1,000 points at other times directly through the program when you make a reward stay reservation. Members can only buy 5,000 points from Best Western Rewards during the current 10K per night promotion.

Best Western Rewards points in 2019 provided cheap stays in Key West, Florida during the last 10K reward nights promotion and again this month in Disneyland during the current 10K promotion.
