Star Alliance airlines, mainly Swiss and Lufthansa, have Los Angeles LAX to Florence, Italy FLR on sale for $517 to $556 on many dates for departures January 8 to May 6, 2019.
Google Flights show $499 on Swiss Airlines for many dates, but I found ticket prices were generally around $700 on Swiss, while Expedia, Orbitz and Priceline show $517 to $557 tickets.
