A new IHG hotel in Amsterdam opens July 2018 with Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam City Hall. I look forward to visiting this property that looks to combine a good location for Amsterdam with a low reward night rate at 20,000 points within walking distance of Centraal Station, the Red Light District, the Zoo and several museums. Breakfast included too.
I doubt this hotel will remain at 20,000 points for longer than its first year. Room rates currently range from 160-230 EUR per night for dates I checked from July to November 2018.
I have not been in the specific street area of the new HIX Amsterdam City Hall, but I did visit museums in the vicinity of the hotel, within 0.5 km of the hotel location on 2016 and 2017 trips to the city.
This area of Amsterdam was formerly the Jodenbuurt, Amsterdam’s historically Jewish district of the city and location of Amsterdam’s WWII ghetto. The Jewish Historical Museum and National Holocaust Museum are in the area.
I visited the Dutch Resistance Museum/Verzetsmuseum a couple years ago describing WWII Dutch Resistance.
The Hermitage is a fine art museum in the area.
