Pinpointing Good Value Wyndham Rewards properties
Wyndham Rewards points are not a currency on most miles and points collectors minds. Super 8, Howard Johnson and Days Inn are not most travelers idea of a vacation getaway. In my experience, it only takes one great deal in one place to make hotel points valuable to me.
For several years I had a pile of Wyndham Rewards points I purchased in one of the early Daily Getaways sales. These points held little value to me in places I went. Wyndham Grand The Mills House Charleston was one of the few places I enjoyed on a points stay when published rates were $300+ per night.
Then Wyndham Rewards introduced GoFree and GoFast rates.
GoFree = any hotel worldwide is 15,000 points per night.
GoFast = 3,000 points + copay (set rate at $25-$150 per night, depending on property).
Suddenly, I found myself sitting on a pile of valuable Wyndham Rewards points. I have not redeemed points for a GoFree reward night in the past three years. GoFast reward nights are a real deal at several hotels where I found 3,000 points + copay shaved $50 to $100+ off the nightly room rate.
