IHG Rewards Club and Mastercard Priceless Surprises promotion runs December 1 to February 15, 2017. Promotion registration is open today for US residents who are Mastercard credit card members. Any Mastercard counts, not just IHG Rewards Club co-branded Mastercard.
The main part of the promotion is earn a $50 to $100 Mastercard reward card after two qualifying IHG hotel stays, one which must be at least two nights. The amount of the reward card depends on the IHG hotel brand you stay for either of the two qualifying stays. You can only earn one card per member during promotion. The first two stays during the promotion period will determine the qualifying brands for your reward card amount.
- InterContinental = $100
- Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Even = $75
- Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites = $50.
Basically you must stay a minimum of three nights over two stays to earn a Mastercard Reward gift card.
The Mastercard® Reward Card value is determined by the IHG brand where at least one (1) of the two (2) Qualified Hotel Stays are completed.
If a Participant has at least one (1) Qualified Hotel Stay at an InterContinental brand hotel, Participant will receive a one hundred dollar ($100) Mastercard® Reward Card.
If a Participant has at least one (1) Qualified Hotel Stay at a Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, or Even Hotels brand hotel, Participant will receive a seventy-five dollar ($75) Mastercard® Reward Card.
If a Participant has at least one (1) Qualified Hotel Stay at a Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Holiday Inn Resort, Hualaxe, Staybridge Suites, or Candlewood Suites brand hotel, Participant will receive a fifty dollar ($50) Mastercard® Reward Card.
A Participant will receive the highest possible value of the Mastercard® Reward Card, depending on which IHG brands Participant stay at. Mastercard® Reward Card value will be determined immediately following checkout of the second of the two (2) Qualified Hotel Stays (one [1] of which must be at least two [2] nights).
Each Participant is only eligible to receive one (1) Mastercard® Reward Card during Offer period regardless of the number of Qualified Hotel Stays. Mastercard® Reward Card.
Loyalty Traveler Analysis
This Priceless Surprises promotion will likely result in my changing hotel plans for a December trip. There is a Hotel Indigo in one city I plan to visit next month where I can book two nights for $80 per night and two nights at Holiday Inn for $80 per night. I happen to need four hotel nights, but could earn the promotion with only three paid nights.Â
2 stays – 3 nights @ $80/night = $240 hotel spend.
Earn $75 Mastercard with Hotel Indigo eligible stay. Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn are same $80 price for my dates. Does not matter which hotel is 2-night stay or 1-night stay in this case.
Net cost is $240 – $75 = $165 or $55/hotel night for 2 stays and 3 nights.
Even more promising is the chance to change my hotel stay in Vienna, Austria from a $55 per night budget hotel to the InterContinental Vienna for $165. After $100 Mastercard credit my InterContinental stay is $65. Then stay two nights at another IHG brand like Hotel Indigo I mentioned. This is a more upscale and more expensive option at $325 in spend for 2 stays and 3 nights, but after $100 rebate that is only $225 for 3 nights = $75/hotel night.
An extra $60 spent for 3 hotel nights and hotel market segment upgrade to luxury class in Vienna is a more desirable hotel stay pattern. InterContinental Vienna and Hotel Indigo for $75 per night look like my kind of hotel deals.

All in all, this Mastercard IHG Rewards Club Priceless Surprises is a promotion I am likely to earn.
