Minneapolis to Europe low American, Delta and United fares for fall travel $483-$695

Many of the extremely low fares around $400 round trip from Washington, New York and Chicago seen over the past two days from American, Delta and United are a reaction to the Icelandair sale. Minneapolis MSP is one of the US airports with low fares to several countries in Europe for travel in Sep-Dec during the Icelandair 96-hour sale to Europe.

Paris, London, Munich, Frankfurt, Brussels and Copenhagen are the primary airports on sale with Icelandair. Fares on AA, DL and UA are higher from Minneapolis than east coast airports, yet still relatively low fares starting around $483 are found to Denmark, Germany, and the UK for travel Sep 15-Dec 15 from Minneapolis.

Icelandair 96-hour sale ends Sunday June 12 midnight PT, so I expect these fares will be gone by Monday, if not sooner.

You might wonder why the legacy airlines care about little Icelandair during this sale. Perhaps it lies in the fact that Icelandair placed London and Paris on sale. AA, DL and UA matched Icelandair in their east coast markets, but from Minneapolis those cities are still over $1,000.
