IHG Rewards Club Share Forever is the main summer promotion running May 1 through September 5, 2016 and only open to members who reside in the Americas. The new IHG Rewards Club offer is a minimum potential 65,000 bonus points and one free night (in the Americas). The deal buster in this promotion is the excessive number of nights, 24 and 34 nights for our household offers, for 40,000 of the 65,000 bonus points to kick in.
These are targeted offers so you may have an easier set of nights to earn bonus points. A look at offers published on FlyerTalk shows some members have targeted offers requiring over 50 nights. 24 nights appears to be the lowest level to earn 65,000 bonus points. Common data point is the free night after 15 nights.
Earn One Free Night after 15 nights
More reachable is the free night offer at 15 nights. This is part of everyone’s task offers. Still, that is an average of 4 nights a month and probably around $1,500 in hotel spend in most places to stay 15 nights in summer.
The buzz on FlyerTalk reflects my initial reaction that this offer is not appealing to most people due to the high number of required nights to get the high value bonuses of a free night and maximum points.
The 65,000+ bonus points are only a bonus for IHG road warriors. A promotion bonus requiring an average 6 to 9 nights per month during the promotion period is the kind of offer we are used to seeing from Hyatt and Starwood these past couple of years.

Kelley’s Offer as IHG Rewards Club non-elite member
One Night = 5,000 bonus points (May 1-31, or bonus drops to 1,000 points). Plus 1,000 bonus points to share after first night during promotion. You can keep these points for yourself.
Cumulative 6,000 bonus points (May stay) or 2,000 bonus points (if first stay in June 1 to Sep 5).
The bonus points for one eligible night varies based on your IHG elite status.
- Club: 5,000 bonus points,
- Gold: 6,000 bonus points,
- Platinum: 7,000 bonus points,
- Spire: 8,000 bonus points.
That being said in the Share Forever T&C, my offer shows only 4,000 bonus points after first stay. I am IHG Rewards Club Platinum. IHG Rewards Club in typical fashion has another glitch in another promotion. It seems habitual for IHG Rewards Club promotion offers these past two years.
2 Nights = 1,400 bonus points.
- Cumulative 6,400 bonus points after 2 nights.
4 Nights = 3,000 bonus points.
- Cumulative 9,400 bonus points after 4 nights.
9 Nights = 20,000 bonus points.
- Cumulative 29,400 bonus points after 9 nights.
15 Nights = one free night (only valid for hotels in Americas and not Kimpton Hotels). The free night can be kept for yourself or shared with another IHG Rewards Club member, however that member must reside in Americas and you must designate the friend to receive the free night by Sep 30, 2016. Free night certificate expires Feb 28, 2017.
- Cumulative 29,400 bonus points + one free night in Americas after 15 nights.
24 Nights = 40,000 bonus points.
- Cumulative 69,400 bonus points + one free night in Americas after 24 nights. (Note the 65,400 bonus points assumes the first night stay is not in May. Bonus is higher if first stay is in May 2016).
IHG Share Forever is a summer offer that might bring me around 10,000 bonus points with four nights. I doubt we will stay nine nights during the promotion period.
This Share Forever offer is likely a pass for us and I will be waiting for a better offer from IHG Rewards Club for travel in September when I return to Europe and look to book hotel nights.
