IHG Rewards Club announced January 29, 2016 that 200 hotels worldwide increase in points cost for a free reward night on February 17, 2016. One of the big changes is the new top level award increases from 50,000 to 60,000 points. These new 18 top tier hotels are all InterContinental Hotel properties.
I booked a hotel reward stay for The Venetian Las Vegas this week. That is a hotel increasing to 60,000 points.
The deadline to book under the current points system is before midnight February 16, Eastern time and not hotel local time. You can still book InterContinental Sydney for 50,000 points over the next 18 hours before it rises to 60,000 points at midnight Eastern. Even better is you can book a Points and Cash reward night for 35,000 points and buy 15,000 points for $90.
Here are posts I wrote on the hotels increasing in category Wednesday, February 17.
