Air France has a $649 fare from San Francisco SFO to Ljubljana, Slovenia LJU airport. Air France is the operator of the flights and Delta is offering the low fare as DL codeshare flights on Delta.com. Fares at $689 to $700 round trip are widely available through Delta Airlines ticketing. This is the first time I recall seeing an airfare deal from California to Slovenia this past year.
Slovenia is the border country of northeast Italy and Ljubljana is the capital city. This is a city that existed during Roman times so many centuries of history to discover. Ljubljana, Slovenia is four hours by train to Venice, Italy.
Google Flights shows KLM/Adria Airlines flight options as low as $649, but these result in a fare that must be ticketed by phone. Adria Airlines is a Star Alliance airline. $688 through Delta.com was the lowest fare I found online.

There are overnight possibilities in Paris as seen in the itinerary above, although the flight arrival at 5:25pm and morning departure of 10:30am from CDG means in reality you have about enough time to see the city of light for a couple hours or have dinner and plan a one night hotel stay.

San Francisco to Ljubljana is an interesting low fare deal to an uncommon and hard to spell destination in Slovenia. This fare in the upper $600s is significantly lower than any other airport in the area and another sign more low fares are coming for California to Europe routes this winter and spring.
