SPG Amex 1,000 bonus points for two nights July 30 to Aug 30 and possibly free Boingo wi-fi on the ground

SPG American Express card members have changes coming August 11.

  • Annual fee increase from $65 to $95.
  • No foreign transaction fees.
  • free Starwood Hotels in-room premium internet access.
  • free Boingo hotspot WiFi access after you create a Boingo American Express Preferred Plan account. (Note: my SPG American Express card was ineligible for this free benefit when I submitted my SPG Amex card number for a free account. Seems odd since information in SPG email and Amex site states Boingo free access is a benefit of the SPG American Express card.)

SPG Amex 1,000 bonus points for 2 nights at Starwood hotels July 30-Aug 30

US SPG American Express card members can earn 1,000 bonus points after staying two nights on eligible paid stays between July 30 and August 30. This is a one time bonus. Two nights do not need to be consecutive nights and prior reservations count. Free nights, award nights and cash & Points award nights do not count. You do not need to pay using SPG Amex card to earn the bonus points.

    my SPG isn’t eligible either – I’m hypothesizing its bc the annual fee reset in July – prior to the $95 increase in Aug. In guessing that once we pay the $95 NEXT year, then we’ll be eligible …

    The email says the changes are coming on August 11th, so maybe it won’t let you sign up for Boingo until that date.
