This weekend is the annual Calaveras County Fair with its Mark Twain inspired bull frog jumping contest. Last year I was invited to Calaveras and Tuolumne County on a media tour where we attended the Calaveras County Fair and jumped frogs.
There are plenty of other entertainment activities in the Calaveras County gold country and neighboring Tuolumne County. During three days I visited numerous foothill wineries in and around the town of Murphys, visited Calaveras Big Trees State Park where the giant Sequoia trees, aka Sierra redwoods, were first discovered by white settlers in 1852, ziplined and went caving at California Cave & Mine Adventures, spent an afternoon in Columbia State Historic Park, an historic mining town, and whitewater rafted on the Tuolumne River with SierraMac.
