British Airways has Johannesburg JNB South Africa on sale today from some US airports like Houston IAH, Miami MIA and New York JFK. There might be others, but I did not find this fare from Chicago, Los Angeles or San Francisco. Star Alliance has JNB on sale for around $800 to $850 from California.
British Airways flights earn 100% miles with American Airlines AAdvantage and these are long-haul routes via London.

Africa has been on sale this past week. There are Star Alliance fares too in the $800 to $850 range from many airports and Delta Skyteam Alliance members have comparable fares, though not as low as the fares in the $750s yesterday from California with KLM.
