Hilton HHonors members will have two new options for Hawaii in 2016 when Hilton Garden Inn opens on Kauai and Hilton Garden Inn opens on Waikiki Beach.
Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki Beach will open in the former Ohana Waikiki Beach West Hotel. The Ohana closed in late March for remodeling, which will see its room size drop from 659 rooms. The 623-room Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki hotel is scheduled to open in February 2016. The hotel will be an addition to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Resort and Hilton Waikiki Beach.

Hilton Garden Inn Kauai will also be opening on Kauai in the former Aston Aloha Beach Hotel in Kapaa. This will be the only Hilton brand property on Kauai. The hotel is near the airport with a good beach on the east side of the island. The property has relatively low favorable rating on TripAdvisor as the Aston Aloha Beach Hotel with many comments about a great location and run-down resort. This sounds like the perfect kind of hotel for a Hilton Garden Inn makeover. I think the property will be a hit with loyalty travelers who want a night near the airport before or after going to north island for Starwood resorts or south island for Hyatt or Marriott.
Whichever property opens first, Kauai or Oahu will be the first Hilton Garden Inn for Hawaii and also mark the brand’s presence in all 50 states.
