Finding $10 per 1,000 points redemption value at Radisson Americas hotels

The devaluation of points in Radisson Rewards for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific hotels last month means 1,000 Radisson Rewards points is worth between $2 and $3 for cash credit on hotel payment. Two days ago I transferred 50,000 points out of the international program back to Radisson Rewards Americas. I still think I can get $7 to $8 in redemption value per 1,000 points for hotel stays in Radisson Rewards Americas.

Testing my hypothesis that there are hotels in the Americas – USA, Canada, Caribbean, Central and South America – meant finding hotels where I can redeem my 95,000 Radisson Rewards Americas points and get at least $7 to $8 redemption value per 1,000 points meant finding hotels in the room rate range of $105 to $120 room night after tax for 15,000 points.

95,000 points should allow me to book 5 hotel nights at 15,000 points and one night at 20,000 points. I’d like hotels where I can pay 15,000 points for a $120 room with $600 hotel room value after 5 nights. And find a hotel with a $150 room rate value for a 20,000 points per night hotel. My 95,000 points would have $750 value rather than $250 to $300 maximum in value using 95,000 Radisson Rewards points in Europe as a cash credit off the regular room rate prices.

Radisson Rewards category 1 hotels are priced at 15,000 points for a Standard Room. Since it is November 2022, I started my searches looking at December and January dates. Right away I noticed several hotels in the Americas priced at 10,000 points. These were primarily airport hotels in the USA.

My Radisson Rewards searches over the past few days indicate PointSavers rates are available at dozens of hotels over the next three months Dec-Jan-Feb.

Radisson Rewards points redemption value is $11.24 per 1,000 points for one night January 17, 2023 at Country Inn & Suites Atlanta Airport South.

Airport nights are potentially helpful for free nights before an early morning flight departure, late arrival or an overnight transit layover. More interesting to me is finding a place where a 4 to 6 night stay for free using my 95,000 Radisson Rewards points is feasible.

10,000 points places you in a 485 square feet room with two double beds at Radisson San Jose in Costa Rica. Larger size standard US hotel rooms generally only offer 300 to 350 square feet.

Radisson Rewards points redemption value is $13.73 per 1,000 points for six nights January 17-23, 2023 at Radisson San Jose, Costa Rica.

Some other hotels where I saw Radisson Rewards Americas points deals:

Going south looks like an opportunity to stay a week at Radisson Hotels for free with my 95,000 points. Just need to find a good deal airfare somewhere that matches a good deal Radisson Rewards Americas points stay.

I’m done with radisson. Too many really bad properties and their loyalty programs have gone to crap. Not worth looking at the brand again.

I spent a couple nights at the Radisson Recife a few months ago. It’s a decent business hotel on a lively stretch of beach and I found the area safe and walkable into the late evening. Many restaurant choices are close by, so you won’t be stuck eating at the hotel every night. If you go, be sure to spend some time in nearby Olinda as well – it’s a quaint town with great views over the sea and back to Recife.
