TAP Portugal SFO-BCN $408rt instant Miles&Go discount

TAP Portugal has an instant 200 miles discount valued at $24 on San Francisco to Lisbon to Barcelona for ticket prices as low as $407.78 round trip. That ticket price is an 11-day trip November 28-December 8. And you have to pack only a carry-on.

What caught my attention with this deal is the website is giving a 200 miles credit worth $24.00 off the $432 regular ticket price. When I checked this SFO to Barcelona ticket I saw the $24 discount for 200 miles is automatically credited for the final ticket price of $407.78 after login to my TAP Portugal account. New members get the 200 miles discount price upon registering for TAP Portugal. Most dates over the next few months are priced in mid-$500s for this TAP Portugal SFO-BCN itinerary.

One of these days I hope to fly TAP Portugal SFO to Lisbon nonstop. Unfortunately, the booking class for these TP discount economy flights don’t help me in the Star Alliance mileage game I play to maintain Aegean Airlines Gold/Star Alliance Gold elite.

The best deal SFO-BCN or LAX-BCN or JFK-BCN is to use Iberia points (Avios) when Blue class is available on the nonstop flight. You get a free bag and best of all you can select any coach seat for free, including the front extra legroom seats. Premium economy is another option, at double the points.

If you have taken the time (90 days minimum) and effort to set up and test your transfer capability between British Airways and Iberia points, you can move Capital One points to BA this month with a 20% bonus, then move those points to Iberia. Be aware that Iberia has arcane rules about eligibility for BA transfers.
