SFO to Lisbon in May still under $400rt

Lufthansa still has flights under $400 round trip for travel from SFO to Lisbon, Portugal in May. You can even return in mid-June for around $400. This fare is a great deal if you can travel with only a carry-on bag and you do not care about earning frequent flyer miles.

I am heading to Lisbon this summer on a $470 round trip ticket with Air Canada I purchased in January. Ticket prices for my dates are now in the $1,300 range.

    What is it about Lisbon? My family has $450 British Air tickets SFO-LIS in July and August.

    It’s a pretty city. Lots to do. Historical sites. Affordable. Climate is comfortable. Beaches are close by. I stayed in Lisbon with kids for three nights and then went by public train to Cascais-Estoril are for more of a beach experience (4 nights). Some prefer traveling to the Portuguese south coast for a more genuine beach experience. For longer trips, Porto and the wine areas are nice. You’ll enjoy it. Keep in mind, you’re traveling during the peak summer vacation time, so it’ll be busy. I went there in late September. May and September are great to avoid big crowds (true for most of southern Europe).

    I can’t fly economy for this long anymore but this is a great deal for those who can. To put in perspective about 40 years ago I paid $800 RT to Madrid on TWA. So considering inflation this is a super deal.
