This is the best deal I have seen on points purchases outside the annual Daily Getaways sales by U.S. Travel Association, last held in Oct-Nov 2021 when points were available for as low as $5.02 per 1,000 points.

At a purchase price of $7.36 per 1,000 points there are many places with good value hotels where the price to pay in points is a significant discount on the price of rooms.  You can check locations you wish to travel and decide if Choice Privileges points might work for your travel plans.

The deal with Choice Privileges is hotels change reward rates every few months. A hotel reward rate that might not be a good deal this summer might offer fantastic savings next October. A couple years ago the Comfort Inn in Carmel-by-the-Sea was 10,000 points per night on weekdays during the high summer season when rates were typically over $250 per night. Last November I booked a large suite at the Cambria Suites in Anaheim when it was 20,000 points per night and rates were over $300 per night.

In general, I find the best value using Choice Privileges points for hotels in Europe. Sweden, Norway and Denmark offer some great deals. Unlike most Choice Hotels around the world, the hotels in Scandinavia are Nordic Choice Hotels and have a year round fixed rate for reward nights. Czech Republic has several Choice Hotels at 10,000 points per night this summer. Clarion Bratislava, Slovakia is a new property since the pandemic hit. Comfort Hotel Budapest is expected to open this year.

Germany, France and Spain have numerous Choice Hotels properties. Italy has some, including Hotel Aquarius Venice.

The main thing to know about Choice Privileges points is reservations using points can only be made within 100 days of your stay. I typically plan to book right as the 100 days booking window opens. Another change I noticed this year from the past is before the pandemic I could book a multiple night stay as soon as the 100 day booking window reached the day of check-in. Now each day of your reward nights for your stay must fall within the 100 day booking window.

I have used Choice Privileges points for dozens of hotel nights in Prague and other cities in Czech Republic, London, Vienna, Copenhagen and several hotels in Norway and Sweden over the past 8 years. I consider Choice Privileges my best return on investment on purchased points of all hotel loyalty programs.
