World of Hyatt has all kinds of announcements this week with a new promotion for double points Feb 15-May 15 beginning with second stay. A linked Hyatt credit card offer for 1,500 bonus points on stays including a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night makes this offer even better value for weekend travelers.
On top of that is today’s announcement of Hyatt hotel reward night category changes effective March 22 with the introduction of peak and off-peak rates. This article covers the bonus points promotions. Hotel reward category changes will be covered separately.
Double points offers do not excite me since their value really depends on how much you spend for hotel stays. My objective is to minimize the amount of money I spend for hotels.
Which is why I find the concurrently running offer for 1,500 points per stay from Feb 15-May 15 including a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night, also beginning with second stay, the more intriguing offer. This component of the promotion allows a member to potentially earn 1,500 bonus points with an inexpensive one night weekend hotel stay. A $70 hotel night earns 1,500 bonus points — as many points as a $300 in spend hotel stay earns with the 2x points offer by itself. Of course, double points applies to a $70 weekend hotel stay also for an additional 600 or so points.
There is potential to earn around 10,000 Hyatt points for as little as $300 to $400 in hotel spend with these two promotions. Given that Hyatt points are currently selling for $18 per 1,000 points, these two bonus points promotions have the potential to pick up a large rebate on hotel spend, even for the budget traveler.
