Park Plaza Vondelpark Amsterdam remodeled since my last stay a few years ago. This hotel has been my go to Radisson property in Amsterdam as the chain’s lowest priced hotel within the city center. The hotel’s tagline is “A natural habitat for curious travellers”.
The location next to Amsterdam’s 1865 well-developed 120-acre Vondelpark means time relaxing in nature is only steps from the hotel. In a city as crowded as Amsterdam, Vondelpark is a refuge when you want to be far from the madding crowd, while still hanging around the city center area. Walks through Vondelpark is one of our favorite Amsterdam pastimes and one of the reasons we enjoy staying at this hotel about one mile west of Museumplein with the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum. Tram line #2 runs along Koninginneweg on one side of the hotel with Valeriusplein the closest stop about 150 meters west of the hotel.
Park Plaza Vondelpark Amsterdam used to be spread across three buildings, but the older building was cleaved off the redesigned hotel property. This was the hotel building where we once stayed in a 3rd floor deluxe room with a balcony when the elevator was out of order, requiring 66 steps every time we came and went. We felt more like Amsterdam locals with all that stair climbing.

Besides a more compact hotel, one of the major changes for Park Plaza Vondelpark is the hotel entrance moved from the Koninginneweg tram side of the hotel to what was formerly the back side of the hotel on Koningslaan facing Vondelpark.
There was a bird-theme around the remodeled hotel decor that was not apparent in my previous stays.
Park Plaza Vondelpark Amsterdam Public Space
One of the features of the hotel now is we needed to walk through the hallway to the restaurant and bar entrances and pass through a narrow corridor beside the restaurant to access the elevators for our room.
My photo taken through the corridor window is not very clear, but reveals the small garden space outside. There is a door in the corridor for garden access, which apparently locked from the outside for a couple who stepped out. They alerted me through the window and I let them back inside.
Tozi Restaurant is an Italian-themed cuisine and the location for morning breakfast. One of the odd design elements is guests must file through a narrow corridor alongside an open grate metal wall lining the restaurant. I could see the restaurant was generally running at good capacity based on the number of people I observed in both evening and morning walking to and from the elevator to the lobby.

The bed faced the large TV wall with a closet area to the right and bathroom on left.
The design layout made good use of space with a corridor for closet space, coffee space and mini-frig. This left the desk less-cluttered. Although, if I had desired to work on my computer at the desk, then the telephone and remote off the desk would be less clutter for me.
One of the improvements for the hotel are wall outlets with USB ports beside the bed and a master remote by the bed for room climate control.

As I recall, this hotel was the one I could not figure out how to turn on the rainshower. If we had stayed more than one night, I would have likely played around enough to figure it out or at least called the desk. Our next hotel at Mercure Krakow had a simple push button rain shower.

I canceled a reward night at Best Western Delphi Hotel on Apollolaan for 28,000 points in favor of 40,000 points for a night at Park Plaza Vondelpark, Amsterdam.
My calculation is I am more likely to find Best Western Hotels in some other travel destination for 8,000 to 12,000 points per night for better BWR points value compared to getting better value in Amsterdam with 40,000 Radisson Rewards points.
