Qantas $200 round trip USA-Australia flash sale Nov 18-21

Qantas celebrates 100 years with a USA to Australia Birthday Sale offering four days of flash sales for $100 one-way fares on USA-Australia round trip travel this week. There will be 100 tickets offering $200 round trip airfare available each day starting today Monday, November 18 at 2pm PST/5pm EST.  This deal requires a round trip ticket purchase.

The problem is there are no routes or dates showing on the Qantas promotion page. Qantas flies from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas and JFK to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. It is unclear to me if each day will feature routes from all four USA departure cities or if each day will only offer departures from one USA city.

Be sure to read the fine print about return date blackout periods and advance purchase rules.

Return blackout dates apply including 20 March – 15 April 2020, 17 June – 11 July 2020 and 11-28 September 2020.

Los Angeles & San Francisco departures, a 50-day advance purchase is required.

Dallas/Fort Worth & New York departures, a 14-day advance purchase is required.

Minimum stay is 7 days.

This whole deal will be much clearer at 2pm California time. See you then.

Update: Monday offer was 100 tickets from LAX to Sydney with a few specific departure dates in last week of Febuary and return dates in first week of March. Server too slow to process requests. I had outbound flights at Birthday Sale fare price, then waited several minutes for return date flights to load….kicked out with error message before return flights loaded.

Tuesday are San Francisco departures for Melbourne and Brisbane, but no dates given. My desire is a ticket to Brisbane.

Waste of time for 50 tickets. I got a pair and then the server crashed on the payment screen.

They are not setup for the surge of interest.

I felt the sale was a time waster too. I had the outbound Birthday Sale flights set and the server kicked me out after several minutes waiting for return flights to load.

I will try for San Francisco tickets today, then I can ignore the sale for next two days.

At least they posted today’s departure city is San Francisco. Dallas and New York people can stay tuned for Wed and Thu offers.
