$110 for Kimpton Palomar San Diego sounds like a great deal for a Veteran’s Day weekend hotel getaway. However, my searches showed Sunday Nov 10 as the only date shown with a rate anywhere near that low.

Add Saturday night to the mix for a 2-night San Diego Nov 9-11 stay this weekend and the room rate jumps to $168 per night – before tax!

Still, a one-night IHG stay has the advantage of allowing IHG Rewards Club members to advance their way to a good value promotion qualification for 4x points with 4 IHG stays.

    I believe you need to correct what you have written about this IHG program. If you stay for 6 nights that would only qualify as one stay. I read the small print at IHG and you have to stay four different times to then earn the 4x reward. And I’m pretty sure that checking in and checking will not work.

    The difference between a hotel stay and a hotel night is a rule that has been in place for many years. Consecutive nights at the same hotel count as one stay regardless of check-in and check-out.

    In my article on IHG 4x points my example shows points earnings for six one-night stays (not six consecutive nights at same hotel).

    Checking in and out on consecutive days at the same hotel does not count as multiple hotel stays. That is a standard rule for all hotel loyalty programs and promotion bonuses.
