Hawaii Food & Wine Festival has an online auction for 120,000 Hawaiian Airlines frequent flyer miles (3 items, all currently $2,000 to $2050 for next bid) and 33 hotel resorts across Hawaii open for bids through October 28 at BiddingforGood.com. There are hotels like Grand Wailea Waldorf-Astoria, Four Seasons Oahu Ko Olina, Hyatt Maui, Marriott Resort Kauai, Fairmont Orchid (Big Island), Andaz Maui, Marriott Waikiki and more.
While there is no predicting how high auction bids will go, there are several hotels now where bids are less than half the price of typical room rates for the stay. Some of my best travel deals over the past several years were hotel stays I won through online auctions. Since Hawaii resort bids I looked at rise in increments of $50, a bid today may be just enough to raise the price to a level that other bidders will back off.
For example, Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is currently $730 for 2 nights in ocean view room with breakfast for two. The next bid is $780. That might be a sufficient bid to prevent anyone from offering $830 for this package. This package expires November 30, 2020 allowing 13 months to book your stay.
Making a bid for $780 is potentially a winning bid for a deep discount on prevailing rates for this property.
