Some dates searched on Google Flights show low price itineraries, but no direct links. Google Flights will lead you to the low fare dates, however, you may need to go to Skyscanner or Momondo to find tickets for many of these dates.

Here is one sample fare that showed as $332 on Google Flights, then priced at $305 round trip on Air Canada.

Ric, are you finding these on your own? If so, what is the process you use? Are these fares something that you stumble across while searching for flights that you might use? Is that why they are mostly via LAX and SFO ?

Most of the fares I write about are deals I find on my own searching Google Flights.

When I started adding airline ticket price articles to Loyalty Traveler in early 2015 my objective was to build a database of fares to know what was actually a low fare from California to places around the world.

In 2015 I determined a low fare to South Africa and Australia were ticket prices under $1,000.

In 2016 it was still fairly easy to recognize a $400 ticket to Asia was likely a mistake fare.

Now in 2019 $500 round trip to Australia and $300 to Europe is the new normal. I could spend all day writing up low fare deals, but that gets boring. Sites like SecretFlying.com are a resource for general low fare deals.

My personal interest is keeping track of airline deals from California airports for my own database and to alert friends and family and readers in California.

Most tickets I purchased for my own travels over the past several years are airfare deals I also posted on Loyalty Traveler.

Thanks. I wish you would move to Portland so that I could benefit from your research as much as your CA friends and family do! 🙂
