Hilton Honors loyalty program Hilton Hotels Worldwide hotel reward category changes

27 of 42 Hilton Honors 10,000 points hotels in USA went to 20,000 this week

Hilton Honors members started noticing and reporting price increases for reward nights at hotels a couple days ago (Flyertalk thread) (The Gate) with many hotels rising 10,000 points per night. Since Hilton Honors no longer uses reward charts and rates typically fall in a variable range of 10,000 to 30,000 points across different dates, the actual changes to specific hotels can be hard to track.

Since hotels at 5,000 and 10,000 points are the most stable of all hotel reward rates and also the hotels I have used most over the past few years, these are the hotels I examined to determine how much has changed.

I had previously compiled lists of Hilton Honors 5,000 and 10,000 points hotels around the globe, however, my most recent list was September 2018. Loyalty Lobby updated his list of Hilton Honors 10,000 points hotels in April 2019.

Good news is China, Egypt and Mexico have hardly changed at all with nearly all their 10,000 points hotels still at 10,000 points. The bad news is nearly all the hotels at 10,000 points per night in the USA last week are now 20,000 points. Good news is Arkansas, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas still offer 10,000 points hotels.

Here is a list of 42 USA hotels from LoyaltyLobby.com at 10,000 points hotels in April 2019.

The reward rate today is shown next to these hotels. 27 of 42 hotels have risen to 20,000 points. There are now only 15 hotels in USA at 10,000 points reward nights.

27 of 42 hotels that were 10,000 points last week are now 20,000 points.

In Europe, I know Hilton Vienna Danube South and DoubleTree Bratislava increased from 10,000 to 20,000 points.

Thanks for looking them all up, even if it is bad news.

Of course, it isn’t just these cat 2 properties. Last year there were still 4 hotels in N. Calif. that were 20000. With this devaluation, the last of the 4 goes up to 30000. That is a huge hit.
