IHG $5 per 1,000 points through June 8. Buy up to 200,000 points.

IHG Rewards Club has a targeted offer of 100% bonus points on purchases made by 11:59pm Eastern, Sat June 8. This bonus kicks in when buying at least 7,000 points for $70 to earn 14,000 points at the rate of $5.00 per 1,000 points. IHG Rewards Club allows a member to purchase a maximum 100,000 points in a calendar year. This offer is a potential 200,000 points for $1,000.

My offer is 100% bonus points, however, I suspect some other members may have lesser offers like 80%. IHG Rewards Club seems to vary the bonus points percentage during sales this past year.

This can be a good rate to buy points for many hotels. I value IHG points at $5 per 1,000 points when evaluating IHG Rewards Club promotions and whether to use points or pay for a room.

This summer I am spending about $400 with IHG on 4 room nights to earn about 45,000 points during the IHG Accelerate summer 2019 promotion. I consider that to be a $225 rebate in points. I am also spending 40,000 points + $40 for 3 IHG reward nights to save $300. That is a redemption value of $6.50 per 1,000 points on my redeemed points.

My net expense will be $440 for 7 hotel nights or about $63 per night. And I come out about 5,000 points ahead.

Taking advantage of IHG promotions to earn points keeps me from needing to buy IHG points.
