Wyndham Rewards day on Daily Getaways is Wednesday May 8 at 10:00am Pacific / 1:00pm Eastern. You can buy 15,000 points for $175 or a maximum 30,000 points for $350. There are 1,143 sets of points for sale.

Despite changes last month raising nearly 200 hotels to 30,000 points for a free night, there are still free nights at thousands of hotels for 15,000 points per night. There are some hotels where $175 room nights still provide a significant rate discount.

What makes Wyndham Rewards points more valuable than they might seem on the surface is the fact that some Wyndham brand hotels offer high category room types, even a Presidential Suite, at standard reward rates.

Here are two examples where 30,000 points for $350 provides a good rate savings at two hotels in Europe.

Buying 30,000 points for $350 buys a $400 per night Presidential Suite at a French resort for $175 per night.

Ramada Apollo Amsterdam for New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve in Amsterdam is a spectacle you will always remember once you have witnessed the city light up in a way that is only possible for a few hours a year.

I burned my last 45,000 Wyndham Rewards points last New Year’s Eve for a 3-night stay at this hotel in a Panoramic Executive Room with wall to wall window view of the city at midnight.

Buying 30,000 points for $350 saves $232 on the 2-night room rate over New Year’s Eve.

There are dozens of opportunities like this around the world.

Personally, I wrote off Wyndham Rewards after they changed their GoFast rewards last year from 3,000 points + a fixed copay amount to 70% of the Best Flexible Rate cash copay.

The impact of this program change to GoFast reward nights meant the Panoramic View Executive Room at the Ramada Apollo Amsterdam went from 3,000 points + 62 EUR to what you see above as 3,000 points + 182 EUR per GoFast Reward night.

Basically the only real value I see with Wyndham Rewards points are the few hotels where $175 per night is still a nice rate discount. But I only spend $175 per night for a hotel room when I am earning a rebate in points or a free night of equivalent value.
