Barcelona is on sale from Los Angeles September to March 2020 with Star Alliance airlines, then Oneworld and SkyTeam add low fares beginning in October. United has my attention for their $343 round trip tickets for travel in September and October. These low fares are also available with United for Sep-Oct travel from San Francisco.
My newly earned Star Alliance Gold membership has me focused on United and Air Canada flights since their Basic Economy allows one checked bag free for Star Alliance Gold members, whereas Lufthansa and Swiss do not offer that benefit as far as I can tell from checked bag rules on their websites.
Please give me a shout out if I am incorrect in the LH/LX bag rule for Economy Light as a Star Alliance Gold member through Aegean Miles+Bonus. I am looking at paying a higher ticket price to avoid those airlines on my next upcoming ticket purchase for Europe where I want the option of a checked bag and earning redeemable miles with Aegean flying United Economy K class.

Barcelona has turned into one of the cheapest arrival cities in Europe for flights from California. I flew Monterey, California to Barcelona on a $209 one way ticket Feb 27. I would love to see United fly SFO-BCN nonstop on a regular schedule.
Turns out this same fare is also available from San Francisco to Barcelona via one stop in Washington DC.
