Hilton Honors 100% bonus points is a promotion I was anticipating for 2019. My wait did not take too long. Through February 26, 2019 the price to buy points is $5.00 per 1,000 points when you spend at least $100 for 20,000 points.
There is an annual purchase limit of 80,000 points in a calendar year. Since bonus points do not count toward the purchase limit, this 100% bonus points sale allows a member to buy up to 160,000 points for $800.
Bloggers who share some great resorts around the world with 80,000 points reward nights they consider a terrific discount at $400 per night is an angle I do not take. My focus is on the low hanging fruit in Hilton Honors where hotel reward nights are 10,000 and 15,000 points per night. I can lock in flexible cancellation reward nights for $50 or $75 per night. Even better are a few hotels where I would consider a 5th night free stay for 40,000 or 60,000 points at a rate of $40 to $60 per night when buying points during this sale.
Last year I had my eye on several hotels at 5,000 and 10,000 points per night, but most of the hotels in Poland and Romania I had my sights on doubled in price to 10,000 and 20,000 points in September 2018.
Romania is a place I want to visit again in summer after an enjoyable trip to Cluj-Napoca in October. DoubleTree Sighisoara Romania is currently 10,000 points per night (up from 5,000 points last August).
I have my eye on staying at a couple of Hilton hotels in summer 2019. I want to lock in reservations at current reward rates ASAP.
Kelley wants to return to a Baltic Sea beach town and Hampton Inn Swinouscjie, Poland at 15,000 points per night is another location I have in mind.
As with most buy points opportunities, I only recommend buying when you have a redemption in mind within the next few months. Reward rates can change at any moment.
I purchased Hilton points in summer 2018 and stayed at Hampton Inn Cluj-Napoca, Romania for 6 nights at a cost of 29,000 points. Apparently there was a glitch when I booked a 5th night free reward reservation for 19,000 points in September 2018 during the re-categorization process for this 10,000 points per night hotel changing to 20,000 points per night within days after I booked my reservation.
My 29,000 points stay would now price at 100,000 points for 6-nights at Hampton Inn Cluj-Napoca with a 5th night free elite member reward stay.
Those kinds of unannounced points value Hilton Honors changes are the reason I tend to only buy Hilton Honors points when I have a place and specific hotel in mind to quickly lock in hotel reward rates.
