Hyatt-SLH adds 11 UK hotels in central London, Edinburgh, country estates and Channel Islands

The initial list of Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties in the World of Hyatt partnership launching December 6, 2018 includes only 54 hotels in 12 countries. See my previous article for stay and redemption benefits World of Hyatt members receive at participating SLH hotels.

This article looks at 11 SLH hotels in United Kingdom and Channel Islands with World of Hyatt hotel reward category and sample 2019 posted hotel rates. There is also a description of hotels with TripAdvisor ranking and hotel reviews.

10 SLH properties in the United Kingdom and one hotel in Jersey on the Channel Islands comprise 11 of the 49 hotels currently listed in Europe as SLH participating hotels in World of Hyatt.

SLH United Kingdom 10 hotels participating as of Dec 6, 2018

Four SLH London hotels are a significant addition to the existing two Hyatt brand hotels in central London: Hyatt Regency The Churchill and Andaz London Liverpool Street.

For each of the SLH hotels I included links to both the hotel’s website and the Hyatt-SLH website. The hotel websites offer more hotel details in terms of video, images and promotions. You will need to book through the Hyatt-SLH website to redeem World of Hyatt points and if you want Hyatt benefits for a paid stay.

4 SLH hotels in central London

Dukes London – 25,000 points

St. James’s Hotel and Club – 25,000 points

Flemings Mayfair – 25,000 points

The Capital Hotel and Apartments, London Knightsbridge – 25,000 points

4 London Small Luxury Hotels of the World available with Hyatt Points.      July 10, 2019 rates.

As to be expected, the four hotels in London are all high category 6 reward rates at 25,000 points per night. Still, even at 25,000 points, this can be a good World of Hyatt points deal when a hotel like St. James’s Club London is priced over 600 GBP for dates in July 2019.

Category 6 reward rates place the four new SLH partner hotels at the same Category 6 hotel reward price as the two existing Hyatt brand hotels in London.

TripAdvisor ranking of Hyatt and SLH hotels in London

  1. The Capital Hotel and Apartments #81 of 1,186 hotels in London
  2. Dukes Hotel #117
  3. St. James’s Hotel and Club #129
  4. Andaz London Liverpool Street #130
  5. Flemings Mayfair #144
  6. Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill #166

London region historic estate houses

Four other Small Luxury Hotels of the World newly affiliated to World of Hyatt are historic estate houses located within 30 miles of London.

Luton Hoo Hotel Golf & Spa, Luton 15,000 points

Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa 25,000 points

These 4 SLH hotels include listed historic properties and former estate manors.

Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa has a history described in this wikipedia article. The house was restored into a 228-room hotel opened in October 2007. Luton Hoo ranks #4 of 28 Luton hotels.

Alexander House Hotel & Spa has a video on the hotel’s website providing an immersive experience that may be the next best thing to visiting. Pool and spa are enticing. Easy to see why this hotel is priced at 25,000 points. TripAdvisor ranks the property #1 of 4 in East Grinstead, West Sussex.

Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club is a country house from 1820 in Ashdown Forest, East Sussex. TripAdvisor lists the property and there is a review of the property with more photos in The Telegraph referring to the area as Winnie the Poo country.

Tylney Hall Hotel and Gardens, Hook, Hampshire is a Victorian era country house on 66 acres of parkland and gardens. The hotel has good reviews on TripAdvisor, but no ranking.

Stratford-upon-Avon, William Shakespeare’s birth place

The Arden Hotel 15,000 points

The Arden Hotel ranks #4 of 29 hotels listed on TripAdvisor for Stratford-upon-Avon.

Shakespeare plays are popular entertainment in Stratford-upon-Avon (town’s tourist website).

Edinburgh, Scotland

Nira Caledonia Edinburgh 20,000 points

Nira Caledonia Hotel ranks #41 of 152 hotels in Edinburgh. A hotel review published in The Telegraph describes the hotel as two Georgian townhouses located in New Town as a peaceful corner in one of Edinburgh’s finest neighborhoods. The review also states the property does not have elevators due to its historic building listing.

July 10, 2019 rate

Nira Caledonia is not showing any reward availability yet for dates I searched.

Island of Jersey, Channel Islands

The Atlantic Hotel – 25,000 points

The Telegraph hotel review provides this description of The Atlantic Hotel – “You feel on top of the world here thanks to that sweeping view of St Ouen’s bay. The six-acres of grounds border La Moye Golf Course and you can watch paragliders floating by while you lounge by the pool.”

Finding any availability for cash nights is difficult when searching dates for next summer.

Channel Islands consist of the Bailiwick of Guernsey and Bailiwick of Jersey. Technically they are designated Crown Dependencies and not part of the United Kingdom. For practical tourism purposes the Jersey and Guernsey Pound local currencies have the same exchange rate as GBP.

The Atlantic Hotel room rates May 7-10, 2019. Ocean view rooms are 50 GBP more per night.

World of Hyatt looks to have added significant value for members who stay in London and travel around the UK. My wife, a great lover of English film and mystery shows, recently asked me, “Can you plan a trip to England where we stay a few days in a country estate house?”

Looks like I know how I’ll be spending our World of Hyatt points.
