How to redeem IHG Rewards Club Chase Anniversary Free night

IHG Rewards Club Select MasterCard from Chase offers an unrestricted free anniversary night for any IHG hotel worldwide. This article shows how to redeem these free IHG Chase card nights.

There was an issue in April 2018 when the new Chase IHG Rewards Club Premier card came out with an anniversary free night limited to hotels at 40,000 points.

I did not follow that discussion closely at the time, but apparently it was resolved so no points cap is  placed on IHG Select MasterCard members anniversary free night certificates issued before May 1, 2019.

This article shows the steps listed above using my free Chase IHG Select anniversary night in my account to book the InterContinental Paris Le Grand, a hotel normally at 70,000 points.

The Chase IHG Rewards Club Premier card anniversary free night capped at 40,000 points excludes higher reward rate hotels like most InterContinental Hotels and Kimpton Hotels around the world and dozens of other hotels worldwide such as my local Holiday Inn Express Cannery Row Monterey, California.

Steps 1 and 2 above are IHG Rewards Club login and go to My Account.

Left side of the my account page shows ‘1 Free Night‘.

This is the link for booking your Chase credit card free night.

As you can see, my free night expires November 2, 2018.

When I click on ‘Book Free Night‘ link, then Chase Anniversary Free Night appears in rate types.

Most of my Chase IHG Select credit card free nights have been redeemed at top tier InterContinental Hotels. I mostly have stayed at InterContinental London Park Lane when transiting through the city on my way to some other place.

InterContinental Paris Le Grand was one of my favorite free night redemptions.

or $593.65 for same room on flexible rate with same cancellation rules as Chase Anniversary free night.

Chase IHG Rewards Club Select card anniversary free night is a high value benefit.

Looks like I will have one more uncapped free night issued in October 2018 before I find out what happens with my IHG Select credit card in 2019.

Chase IHG Rewards Club Premier card 4th night free on reward stays and a 40,000 points anniversary free night sound like decent replacement benefits for my style of travel. InterContinental one night stays are a splurge. I would actually derive more benefit from several 4th night free stays during the year since one of the limitations I found for my Chase Select Anniversary Free Night is my wife does not like to bounce around hotels and I would not pay to stay at the expensive luxury hotels I stayed at using the Chase credit card free night.

I lead more of a Holiday Inn kind of life.
