Pack a helmet for Best Western Plus Old Town Krakow

Best Western Plus Old Town Krakow, Poland is a great location for easy access to Krakow Old Town shops, bars and restaurants, Wawel Castle, the riverfront and Kazimierz, the city’s other main entertainment district and historic Jewish area for centuries until WWII.

Best Western Krakow Old Town was priced at 20,000 points for an upgraded Superior Twin Room.

Flexible rate was 609PLN/$165.46usd for a Superior Room at the time I booked in April for our June stay. Lowest priced room available was Premium Singles at 433PLN/$118usd nonrefundable advance purchase rate.

Many chain hotels around Krakow Old Town are high priced during peak season. In fact, Krakow hotel rates generally looked higher for stays late June 2018 and dropped lower on more dates for stays in late July 2018. These same hotels can be half that price outside of summer months and Christmas.

Tip: Krakow rocks at Christmas with thousands of tourists in Old Town and most restaurants and bars open Dec 25-26, unlike most shuttered European cities.

Best Western Krakow Old Town was one of the largest hotel rooms we had during our 15 night stay around Europe in 9 different hotels. There was plenty of room for a rollaway bed to be added to the room.

The room damn near knocked me out.

Our day started 22 hours earlier in Sopot, Poland at the Sheraton Sopot after a past-midnight LOT Polish flight cancellation of our Gdansk to Krakow nonstop flight. After 5 hours sleep I was awake at 7:30am calling LOT Polish on a Poland number to rebook our flight to Krakow.

By 10pm we arrived back in the hotel room, after a liter of beer with dinner at Sukiennice on the Krakow Old Town Cloth Hall outside patio.

Kelley asked me to turn on the light by the bed. I misjudged the angle of the sloped ceiling and head butted the edge leaving a crease in my head for several days.

Next time I visit Best Western Plus Krakow Old Town, I’ll want to pack a helmet.

Krakow Old Town Arrival from Krakow Glowny train station

Krakow Airport train directly from inside the airport to Krakow Glowny is a 9PLN/$2.45usd one way ticket and takes about 20 minutes.

In Krakow the website recommended by travel guide In Your Pocket – Krakow for finding public transportation routes is krakow.jakdojade.pl .

Navigating through the familiar territory of Krakow to reach Best Western Krakow Old Town from the train station with a 2-stop ride on #10 tram on a 2.80PLN/0.76USD 20-minute ticket put us in the hotel about one hour after landing at KRK airport.

The same route from the train station to the Best Western Old Town hotel can be walked in 20 minutes.

The hotel decor has a jazz music theme. What is not seen in my photos is the large empty space between the beds on one side and the TV on the other side of the room. There could easily have been another bed or long couch placed in the room.

Bathroom too small

The bathroom was small with a small sink, toilet and small shower stall. This was the primary drawback of the large room. Also the floor level of these Superior rooms requires walking steps as there is no elevator access to this part of the hotel.

Best Western Plus Krakow Old Town gets a positive recommendation from me. This is the best located hotel for a tourist of several Best Western hotels in Krakow. Especially since Best Western Premier Q Hotel by the Vistula River dropped out of Best Western a few months ago.
