August fare: Icelandair $283rt SFO to London

Icelandair is really pushing their new SFO to Iceland route with August fares to London as low as $283 round trip in August. The deals for summer 2018 start around the first week of August and airfare quickly drops through the month with really low airfare from August 20.

These deals are found through Google Flights search and do not seem to be on Icelandair website. Priceline offers these fares. I booked a $263 Priceline ticket recently for SFO-LHR in autumn.

    Ric, do you have any idea why Google Flights will show better prices than ITA? I could not reproduce your price with ITA. I would think you could get the same results….

    This fare seems to be primarily a Priceline deal. When I purchased my ticket last week there was no other place I found the $263 fare including Momondo.com and other OTA sites. Icelandair had the same ticket itinerary I bought for $353.

    Today the $283 fare on Priceline was over $700 on Icelandair.

    I don’t check ITA very often.

    Okay, I assumed that Google Flights was a subset of ITA and would show a bit less than what ITA shows. I’m mistaken, apparently.

    Hopefully, the ticket I want will be there tomorrow and I can purchase on Priceline. As far as you know, Priceline still offers a long cancellation period (>24 hours) over the weekends?
