Sheraton opens in Mali, 5 Protea Hotels rebrand to Autograph Collection

Africa makes Marriott and Starwood news with two recent developments. Sheraton Bamako Hotel opens in Mali at SPG category 5 reward nights. Bamako is the capital city of Mali on the Niger River and largest population center with 1.8 million residents.

Mali has a U.S. State Department Level 4-Do Not Travel advisory due to violence, crime and terrorism.

  1. Thanks for the news on the Protea re branding . Do you know if the points / night will change.

  2. The African Pride 15 On Orange Hotel, Cape Town, is a category 6 (30,000 points/night) hotel. Prior to the devaluation on March 6, the hotel was a cat 5 and a great use of Cat 1-5 free nights or a 7-night certificate.
