Treat Yourself Rate Comparison

Treat Yourself rates are higher than AAA rates at all 3 hotels I compared for the weekend Friday-Saturday nights May 18-20.

  1. Radisson Hotel Santa Maria, California $151 and $179 Treat Yourself promotion rate is $8 and $9 more per night for basic Two Queen Room or King Room compared to $143 and $170 AAA rates. After 12% hotel tax added, Treat Yourself hotel rate amounts to paying $18 to $20 more for a 2-night weekend stay to earn a $25 gift card. Barely better than nothing.
  2. Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Kingsland Georgia $99 Treat Yourself promotion rate is $5 more than $94 AAA rate for standard room. Tax is 18.3%. You pay $11.83 more to earn a $25 gift card. Better than nothing.
  3. Radisson Hotel Chatsworth, California $169 Treat Yourself promotion rate is $9 more per night than $160 AAA rate. After 15.7% hotel tax, you are paying $20.83 more for a $25 gift card.

Keep in mind that you can earn 3,000 bonus points for your first booking through Radisson Rewards mobile app.

My points strategy with Radisson Rewards in 2018 is burn my account balance from six figures to a level good for one or two hotel nights. Radisson Rewards has been off my radar much of 2018 since they raised hotel reward rates at several of the low category hotels in Europe. Radisson Rewards promotions generally have been weak this year compared to lucrative bonus points and free night offers in 2016 and 2017.

Radisson Rewards and Wyndham Rewards are two programs I had about 50 nights stayed over the past two years with high value promotions to earn points and high value hotel reward nights. Both of these programs have gutted some of their best value rewards in 2017 and 2018 for places in my travel plans.
